Good Vibrations

An APL STEREO technician installs accelerometers onto Observatory "B" (the one that will be placed "behind" Earth in its orbit around the sun) prior to vibration and acoustic tests. These tests simulate the ride into space the observatory will encounter aboard a Delta II launch vehicle from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., in 2006. Accelerometers are small devices used to measure vibrations the observatory experiences during these tests.
