Solar Array and Antenna Deployment Tests

Download Hi-Res Image

One of the "B" observatory's solar arrays (the rectangular object above the technician's head) and high-gain antenna (the round "dish" in the foreground) have been deployed during tests to ensure these devices will open properly in space after launch. An APL STEREO technician wires a mechanism that, when triggered in space, will alert the observatory's computer when the high-gain antenna has successfully deployed.
