Performance Tests #2

Download Hi-Res Image

To conduct comprehensive performance tests of the SECCHI (Sun Earth Connection Coronal and Heliospheric Investigation) instrument suite onboard Observatory "B," the spacecraft must be rolled over horizontally. To do this, STEREO engineers at APL use a specially designed table, which allows them to safely turn the spacecraft on its side.

Comprehensive performance tests, conducted while a spacecraft is still on the ground, verify that all instruments and onboard systems are working properly.
