STEREO technicians at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), in Laurel, Md., install the power switching electronics unit onto the STEREO "A" spacecraft (the one that will be placed ahead of Earth in its orbit around the sun). The power switching electronics unit is used to control and regulate power from the spacecraft's solar panels or battery to the spacecraft's main electrical system.
