Peering into a Super Clean Space

Download Hi-Res Image

An APL STEREO technician peers through a "clean tent" - used to provide an even cleaner environment inside space integration facilities. The technician is looking at solar blankets (the shiny aluminum foil-looking material on the spacecraft in front of him) just installed on a portion of the SECCHI (Sun Earth Connection Coronal and Heliospheric Investigation) instrument suite onboard the "B" observatory (the one that will be placed "behind" the Earth in its orbit around the sun).
