IMPACT Weigh-In

Download Hi-Res Image

STEREO technicians weigh the IMPACT boom before installing it onto the "A" observatory (the one that will be placed ahead of Earth in its orbit around the sun) to verify and track the additional mass being added to the spacecraft. In fact, every item installed or removed from either observatory is weighed so an accurate spacecraft weight is maintained.
