STEREO Harness #1

Download Hi-Res Image

At the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), in Laurel, Md., the lead STEREO harness technician is rerouting heater wires on one of the twin STEREO observatories (STEREO "A" observatory-the one that will be placed ahead of Earth in its orbit around the sun). This is done prior to installing, onto the spacecraft, the power switching electronics unit, which is used to control and regulate power from the spacecraft's solar panels or battery to the spacecraft's main electrical system.
